The trombone belongs to the brass instrument family, more specifically to the trumpet instruments. This is because the English and French names for the instrument, "trombone", mean nothing other than "large trumpet". The name commonly used today originates from Martin Luther's Bible translation, who, based on Hebrew and ancient Greek templates, changed "bosaune" to "posaune". In the trombone, the sound is produced at the bell mouthpiece. The player's lip movements cause the air inside the trombone to vibrate, and the slide is used to modify the tones. It can get really loud: at the trombonist's ear, peak levels of over 115 decibels can be reached – louder than a chainsaw or a rock concert.
Because the forerunner of the trombone, the natural trumpet (tromba), was an unwieldy length of around 2.80 metres, the instruments were bent over time: in an S-shape, rolled like a horn, or twisted like a pretzel. This is how the characteristic shape of the Trombone. Because of its rich sound, the trombone is not only very popular in symphony orchestras, but also in swing, jazz, salsa and ska. Do you offer trombone lessons for children?
Whether small or large. You are welcome here. Children and young people learn intuitively and playfully. The joy of trying things out and discovering new things is at the forefront of what we do. Especially with the trombone, children try out a lot at the beginning. How do I put my lips to the mouthpiece? How much pressure do I exert? How hard do I have to blow to get a sound? All of this is learnt intuitively in the first lesson through trial and error.
Our professional teachers are all trained in music education and incorporate technique and theory into their lessons in a child-orientated and didactically sensible way.

Can I learn to play the trombone with you as a beginner?
Even if you have no previous knowledge, this is not a problem. Getting started on the trombone for beginners depends on your musical goals. Getting started on the trombone for is comparatively easy: most people manage to play their first notes relatively quickly and if their finger coordination is good, even simple pieces can be learnt quickly.
We pay attention to the correct position of the instrument and solid breathing technique, but we won't drill you until you don't feel like it anymore. With us, you'll be making music from the very first lesson! Even simple, first melodies can be fun.
