Frequently asked questions

Here we have answered a few questions that we are asked time and again.

  • Which subjects are offered at the Academy of Music Leipzig?

    The Academy of Music Leipzig offers musical training for all age groups.
    All types of keyboard, string, plucked and wind instruments as well as singing and percussion can be learnt at our international music school.
    There is also a large department for elementary music subjects.
    Pupils also have the opportunity to take part in one of the music school's ensembles (choir, band orchestra) or attend music theory courses as part of their preparation for university.

  • How can I register?

    You can register online for lessons at the AOM Academy of Music at any time. Information on enrolment at the Leipzig Music School is available from our office.

  • How much do the lessons cost?

  • Where do the lessons take place?

    That's entirely up to you.

    We offer lessons at our locations in the

    Goetzstraße 5, 04277 Leipzig
    and at numerous partner institutions (primary schools, daycare centres, etc.).

  • When do the lessons take place?

    Lesson times are arranged individually with the teachers.

  • Can I borrow an instrument?

    If you would like to learn an instrument but don't want to buy one at the moment, you can borrow an instrument from the Academy of Music for your lessons.

  • Can I attend trial lessons?

    Yes, we offer free trial lessons to give you an insight into how we work. You can here log in.
    There is no trial lesson option for group lessons and courses.

  • When can I cancel?

    The contractual relationship for contracts with a fixed notice period must be terminated by 30 November and then ends on 28 February or by 31 May and then ends on 31 August. The contractual relationship is terminated by written notice of cancellation. The date of receipt of the notice of cancellation by AOM is decisive for compliance with the notice period.

    All Flex contracts can be cancelled with four weeks' notice to the end of the month.

    Time-limited courses cannot be cancelled prematurely within the course period.

  • Why do I only have 36 lessons a year?

    Due to holidays, public holidays or school trips, there may be differences of up to 5 teaching units per year, depending on the day of the week. This can mean that you receive fewer lessons than you are actually entitled to (e.g. fewer lessons on Mondays than on Tuesdays). We have therefore decided on 36 teaching units per school year so that everyone gets the same amount of lessons and our teachers still have sufficient capacity for further training and artistic development.

  • Do lessons take place during the holidays?

    No, the holiday and public holiday regulations in the Free State of Saxony apply.

  • How do I find out that my lessons have been cancelled?

    If lessons are cancelled, the teachers or the Academy of Music office will inform you in advance.
